Under 16’s

Managers: Jamie Wright / Ben Campbell

The 2013-14 season Herefordshire Girls League unfortunately only had 4 teams in the league, however the standard of football played was testament to the development of girls football in the county.
The Lads Club u16 Girls team is made up predominantly of u15 players but they were blessed with the experience of 4 year 11 player who acted as the backbone of the team. This team started the season extremely well and at Christmas were heading the league table having only conceded  2 goals. The crunch games were inevitably going to the away matches at Leominster (who are year 11 u16 players). We had 2 very close away games against Leominster and on both occasions played the better football but with injuries during the games to key players they were unable to continue their excellent home form and came away on both occasions losing by the odd goal. The Lads Club team finished as league runners-up, which is an excellent result for such a young team.

The League Cup saw us progress to the ‘Edgar Street finals’ after narrowly beating Pegasus 1-0 away in a very tense game. In the final we unfortunately went down 2-0 to Leominster, even though we were the better team… we just couldn’t score !

Next season (2014-15) this team have decided to join the Gloucestershire Girls League where we hope to play in a larger, more competitive league. Don’t be surprised if this team comes away as League Champions ! They’re an exceptional group of players who play with style, commitment and passion.
