Lads Club U9 Tigers 1- 0 Ross U9s

Match Report by Fred Johns

This was a game played at a frantic pace right from the off with Ross putting Tigers on the back foot for the first 5 minutes so Lads Club had to defend well. After the young Tigers side soaked up the early pressure from a determined Ross side, they started to play and enjoy their football and once they got a foot hold in the game they looked the stronger side.

With some great solid play from Tigers in midfield there were limited chances for Ross but some good openings for Lads Club as they were winning 2nd balls and feeding the ball quickly to the forwards who had good pace which was causing the Ross defence problems.

In the second half Tigers were still looking the better team and it was looking like if they could score then they could go on to win the game.

Midway through the second half that’s exactly what happened and after some good tackling from midfield the ball was thread through to forward Halle Magness who with her pace ran through the defence and took her chance well smashing the ball past the keeper to give a well deserved 1-0 lead.

Throughout¬† the game Tigers put in a really good shift with great work ethic, team work and determination. It goes to show that although they’re the youngest team in the league and Ross are one of the strongest,¬† with all this combined you can go out and get results.

This excellent result now moves Tigers up to 2nd in the league behind Lads Club Pumas which is a great achievement. Well done girls a thoroughly deserved win keep up the good work!!
