Vixens 2 – Belles 2

A typical hard fought local derby between two evenly matched sides saw honours even at Widemarsh Common on Sunday 14 October with a battling 2- 2 draw.

The Belles took the match to the Vixens straight from the kick-off but despite dominating early possession the Belles attacking trio were unable to make a breakthrough. Stout defending from the Vixens all over the pitch as well as swift precise counter-attacks caused the Belles defence to jump into action.

As the half-time whistle approached a well taken driven shot from Freya from just inside the  half way  line saw the Vixens take an unexpected lead which they held to half-time.

As the second half began the Belles gained a deserved equaliser after a break down the left wing and a cross that was converted near goal by Chloe.

The Belles looked to capitalise on the equaliser following this, but the Vixens fought back and caused the Belles defence a number of problems which led to a sliced clearance and an unlucky own goal which put the Vixens 2 – 1 ahead.

The final minutes saw non-stop pressure from the Belles in search of an equaliser and with five minutes to go a run and cross-shot from Grace produced the equaliser.

Following this it was typical end-to-end action as both sides sought a last gasp winner but as the final whistle blew it was honours even for the teams.
