Pegasus Girls 3 – Lads Cub Belles 1

A thrilling end to end match at the Pegasus Old School Lane ground on Sunday 11 November saw Pegasus Girls Under 11’s gain a 3-1 win over the Belles in which penalty’s proved decisive.

The Belles were dominant in the early stages of the first half with the Pegasus keeper being forced into a succession of saves from shots from Chloe and Grace but the Pegasus keeper proving dominant. A bright passing move resulting in a handball in the Pegasus area gave the Belles the chance take the lead but Chloe’s penalty was brilliantly parried by the goalkeeper before Grace following up put away a difficult left foot chance to give the Belles a 1-0 lead

As the half wore on Pegasus came more into the game with a number of chances and the Belles keeper Chardonnais was called into action more and more, with the pressure finally bringing about a penalty after a scramble in the penalty box. The resulting penalty saw a goal in the bottom right-hand corner.

Moments later a Pegasus free-kick on the edge of the box saw a pass to an unmarked Pegasus player in the box and they had a 2-1 lead at the close of the half.

Pegasus took the game to the Belles in the second half but confident saves from Chardonnais and confident defending from Harriet, Katy and Maisie kept the Belles in the game and at the other end Grace, Chloe and Izzy went close a number of times from half chances forcing good saves from the Pegasus keeper.

Another handball decision saw another penalty award against the Belles with ten minutes to go but this was brilliantly saved by Chardonnais.

Whilst the Belles continued to look for an equaliser in the final few minutes another handball decision following a Pegasus breakaway was given against them and another penalty award which this time was converted to seal the game 3-1.

A disappointing result for the Belles but again the whole team showed good determination and kept trying to get back into the game until the final whistle.
